Trauma-Informed Spiritual Care

Love Begins at Home.

This quotation from Mother Teresa serves as the inspiration for all Missa Est trauma-informed spiritual care. We don’t have to go far to find people deeply in need of spiritual healing. And that healing can begin right here - in our homes, our communities, and in our Church.

Missa Est offers education and resources for survivors, ministers, and anyone wanting to learn more about promoting spiritual healing and wholeness after abuse and trauma. Courses are available online and in person in the following formats:

  • Master Class - 6 hours

  • Series - 3 or 6 sessions

  • Webinar/Presentation - 1.5 hours

Topics include:

  • Becoming a trauma-resilient Christian community

  • Trauma-informed faith formation

  • Trauma-informed spiritual accompaniment

  • Healing after narcissistic abuse - the role of pastoral ministry

  • Rebuilding a relationship with God after abuse and trauma

  • Spiritual Retreat for survivors of abuse and trauma - To host a retreat, visit the Retreats page. To attend an independent retreat, visit the Events page.

** Please note, all Missa Est trauma-informed spiritual care services deal primarily with the spiritual aspect of understanding and responding to the effects of trauma. They are intended to help participants promote an environment that fosters healing and integration by means of spiritual accompaniment, formation, and community. These services in no way replace safe environment or other required training and do not instruct participants on how to recognize, report, or otherwise interact with the legal system regarding abuse, neglect, or threat of harm.
